Not too bad expense wise, just fence off the two or three sides around their 1 acre. If they want access to the rest they can sign a lease and pay rent.
and...I'd make them move their dog run if its on your property. If someone gets bit by their dog and/or injured on the side that is on YOUR property..guess what..you're liable regardless if its their dog.
Move that run - its their dog..it belongs on their property.
My grandma's chickens wandered over to her neighbor's lawn and they have a fence. Long story short, the neighbor needed something to complain about, so she went over and started yelling at my grandpa.
It wasn't pretty. She has never been happy since, and my grandma got rid of all but five of her fifty or more chickens (bantams even).
The lady still complains daily and my grandma gets complaints from cops and the animal control about how "ugly" her yard looks. One time a cop came over and told her that the neighbor had almost hit our pony with her car. Our pony has never been out of my grandma's yard.
It makes me so mad at how some people just can't be happy.
We've been thinking of getting a mule or donkey or putting all the horses up in my grandma's field just to make her mad, then take all of them back to my house except one to make the one winney for her buddies non stop.

It's just that all of a sudden she is having a fit. For years we have let them mow our lawn and use it. Their dog and kids have come over here and rode their dirt bike. The dog is hooked now because he's old. They put their old rusty dumpster in our field and left it. We un-tangle their dog constantly during the day when he gets his chain stuck. We listen to him bark when they are gone. We feed their animals when they go on many trips through out the year.
I guess I thought when you have neighbors you kinda take the good with the bad. Right?
Our chickens only go over there once in a great while and don't stay long. Either that they use part of their property to get over to our part.
My grandma's other neighbor loved the chickens so every now and then they'd lay an egg in his haystack. He'd bring it over and have a good laugh. Not all neighbors are bad...

Now I can see why you'd be suprised.
I'd still want to put up a fence, just personally.

Yes, this is exactly why I am shocked she is being like this. I don't want it to come to this fighting.
Can anyone recommend a good fence?
Maybe I shouldn't mention this, but there are laws in some places that state if they don't want someone's livestock on their property they have to be the one to fence them out and if they hurt your animal on their property they are liable for damages. You might check your local laws, if this is the case, get a copy and show it to your neighbor. You could even be nice enough to offer to pay for 1/2 the fence. This makes you the nice guy and you save 1/2 the $ for the fence. Also, they make the choice of what kind of fence that "fits the aesthetics" of their new home.
I would think this might keep the peace and, God willing, the friendship, thus preventing an on-going feud.
