Vent problems. Need some advice

It appears to be a prolapsed cloaca or vent. Is all the tissue red or is any of it dark or brown? Aapply some honey from your cupboard, or if you have Preparation H, that will also help to reduce the osmotic pressure and swelling. Lube it up well, and attempt to push the red tissue back inside, and then hold it there for as long as she can tolerate it. It may come back out, but each time you can push it back. Prolapse can occur when straining to lay an egg or egg binding, if dehydrated, or from a lack of calcium. I would may sure that she is pooping.

The other posters and you posted as I was writing. Was the egg larger than usual? Can you give her a dose of calcium in a human calcium tablet, Tums, or crushed egg shells in some plain yogurt? I would place her in a dark room or cage for 16 hours every night to get her to stop laying temporarily to let her heal. Every day you may want to soak her bottom to keep it clean.

I know it wasn't the best pic. She was very distressed about the bath. I'm going to try to get a better pic when sun comes up. She roosting and I have no light out there. At least not good enough for a clear pic. Thank you so much. I need as much advice as I can get

Do you have a flashlight or a headlamp? You can easily grab her off the roost, and either bring her inside in a dog crate, or just put the honey on her vent and try to push it back inside. Or at least just put the honey or even sugar and a little ointment, such as neosporin or vaseline. Sugar helps reduce swelling also. Good luck.

Put it right on the red mass ? I'm gonna go get her off the roost right now and put her in the kennel inside. I will try to push it in myself because my husband left for work. If I can't get it back in by myself will she be ok till early morning?!

Yes, lube up the mass with prep H, or honey or if you don't have that, sugar can help shrink it. But youll need a lube, Vaseline, triple antibiotic cream to help it slide in. You can wrap her head in a towel to keep her calm.
