Hi, this is my first post but I am a long time reader of this website.
I have a 22 week on black copper Maran pullet who prolapsed on her first egg lay. She has passed another egg since with my help.
I have done everything I know how to do in the situation: isolation, restriction of sunlight and diet limited to greens and supplemented water, first hydrocortisone cream and then preparation H, gentle cleansing and replacement of the tissue, etc. She is still chipper considering her situation.
The problem is, things don't look 'normal". I thought there was some poo stuck to her butt, but now I see that it is abnormally colored flesh around the hole the poo comes out of. I can see that past that, further in her body, the flesh is bright red. Today she has also started excreting reddish colored pullets (I assume to be poo eeking out). It is also much harder to get the prolapse back in. I'm wondering if the flesh has died, or has become infected, and in this case, is it too late for her? I've tried to find a vet but there are not in my area. Looking for any advice. Pepa the chicken and I thank you very much.
P.S. Sorry for the blurry photos, I must have been moving.
