vent prolapse

Wow, is coconut oil some sort of miracle drug? :) She totally devoured it, and about a half hour later I went to check her crop, and it seemed like it was back to normal! I don't know if it works that quickly, but I'm glad that's no longer an issue.

As for her vent, it does actually look much better this morning. Nothing protruding out, but I'll give her another soak a little later on regardless.
LOL They do seem to love the coconut oil:)
It's good the crop seems to be clearing. I would re-check it several mornings in a row just to make sure it is empty.

Glad to hear the prolapse is improving as well.

Ok, so I'm thinking of slowly bringing her outside as I'm fairly sure she's missing her flock mates (and is very bored in the basement bath!). Even though she's pooping, it appears to be very watery... pic attached. She hasn't been eating tons but I attribute that to the lack of activity - she's usually a pretty heavy eater but was also a very active chicken.

The other thing I'm wondering about is that the top of her vent seems to be a bit swollen...? It protrudes out over the bottom half of the vent (kind of looks like a fat upper lip). Is this normal or could this be some sort of infection? I should mention that it's not particularly red though. Sorry for the questions, admittedly I'm not a chicken vent expert. :)

PS Forgot to mention that I did check for a stuck egg, and there doesn't appear to be one

It was hard to get a good profile shot, but I think I managed it...

Pardon the poopiness, because it's runny it's getting caught on whatever feathers she has left around her vent. :(

What does that feel like?
It's good that you are taking her out for some fresh air and visits. They do get bored and even seem depressed being away from the flock.

Is her crop empty in the mornings?

What does that feel like?
The top of the vent feels a bit hard when I touch it. When I press on it slightly it causes her to poop a bit, seems like a reflex.
Is her crop empty in the mornings?
As for her crop, it still feels somewhat golfball-like in the mornings, but strangely it seems to soften up and shrink after I give her a tsp of coconut oil. Very strange.
Is there a odor coming from her vent?
It's hard to say if there's a smell coming from it, as that poop/diarrhea is fairly smelly and it took over the bathroom. :(

Any suggestions as to what to offer up for the diarrhea? I wonder if it's partially stress-induced.
