I asked for help with my possible eggbound chicken. A few people came back telling me to put a needleless syringe up her vent and squirt olive oil. One person said to do it on both sides once inside the vent. My question is how do I find the opening once inside the vent. I gently probed around with the syringe trying to see if it would go deeper but had a hard time.
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont think you need to worry about going that far or what direction. Others on here say to soak her in a warm bath to relax muscles to help her push it out.

Whoa! First of all, are you quite sure you have an eggbound chicken? How old? What are the symptoms? How long has she been eggbound?

I personally would not recommend inserting anything into a chicken unless it was a dire emergency. You could do more damage than good if you are not very careful.

If you are positive the chicken is eggbound, then I tend to agree with illinichick - - a warm bath soak, followed by prompt drying to ensure she doesn't chill. Keep her warm and stress-free, perhaps in a darkened place so she does not continue to generate eggs for a few days.

Please keep us posted. Good luck!
