Yes, knowing something about your climate would help, and knowing something about how the insides are laid out (height of roosts and clearance above specifically). But in general, summer or winter, I'd probably remove that top 4" you put in and replace it with hardware cloth for predator protection. High ventilation like that is good in winter and summer. But there might be cross breeze problems if the roosts are right up against the ceiling.
I added pics. Roosting poles are just 3 or 4 ft from floor and ceiling. It would be good to take out the wood ceiling and cover eaves with 1/2" hardware cloth.
Will take a closer look later at that and other stuff later when I have more time.
