Ventilation two sides or four?

Here's how-to (and how not to), extend a roof by sistering the extension to the rafters: https://strousehomeinspections.com/blog/structural-roof-extensions.html

And here is how to use lookouts to extend the roof at right-angles to the rafters: https://www.backyardchickens.com/ar...e-overhangs-eaves-of-a-shed-coop-house.76599/

Awnings over your vents are another option: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/check-out-my-chicken-tractor.1456418/post-24496139

Thanks for mentioning my article. ❤️

Thank you for the articles. The little awnings are cute ☺️ We definitely knew the coop needed more venting then just the window, but for whatever reason they are not in the plans we bought. Other than that the plans are pretty nice and detailed. I think we are going to run three 16x4 vents w/covers along the roof line on the left and two16x4 vents w/covers on the right. We are still deciding what we want to do with the front and back.

You can add fly rafters to the ends and sister rafter extensions on the eaves before you sheath the roof.
I was talking to my husband about this last night after reading through articles, since the plans don't really extend the roof very far. We’re gonna take some measurements tonight since I already bought all the weather matting and shingles. He wants to see how much more we would need and if it make sense to extend or just switch to vent covers to protect from snow or rain blow back rather then leaving them wide open with 1/2 inch hardware cloth
