Venting...

Pagan,
I feel for ya. I don't have a coop to clean yet...wish I did...but I've had days like yours. Funny thing is, those days seem to get closer and closer together the older I get.
Bright Blessings!

LOL! Thanks! I am NOT as mad now. Actually, I find it comical--in retrospect. The look on the messy hen's face. It was like, "What? can I have some privacy here?"

If she wasn't SO cute it would not be as funny...

Interestingly enough, cleaning the coops is a form of therapy for me (I know, I need a life!) but, I think the DLM is the way I am going from now on.

I'll do it twice. Once in Spring and once in Fall. Spring stuff is used for covering trees and bush roots so they don't freeze too much during winter (assuming I can keep the freaking birds out of it...yeah, right! That'll happen!

The Fall...for compost!

IT works...in theory!

PS I think you lost me...do you have chickens? Why do you not have a coop now? Or did you mean...you don't have a coop TO CLEAN now. Don't be rubbing it in! LOL!

I was gonna clean the chicken room today, but we were having Thanksgiving at my inlaws...I woulda rather have cleaned the chicken room.
I usually scoop every day and do a good clean once a month.

I've only had chickens since around August, I've cleaned out once, and decided to go with the deep litter method.... I added some clean wood chips today, scrubbed out their food dish, and cleaned the water dish (I do the water every second day) then I did the same for the horse barn... was a busy day.
My adding wood shavings, consists of dumping half a bag, and leaving - the girls LOVE spreading it all on their own - as you found out today !!

I meant that I don't have any chickens yet. I will have my very first flock in the spring. So for right now I am busy driving my SO crazy with everything he didn't want to know about chickens and wasn't gonna ask!

Good Grief! How can you stand it? I didn't discover this site until AFTER I got the birds. I would be going crazy (and driving everyone around me nuts) had it been the other way around. I suppose it's smart to do it your way but...I know me. LOL!
