I keep a mixed age free range flock and feed them a mix of gamebird grower and layer feed. As I said they free range so they are also eating greens, bugs, and the neighbors bird seed. I would guess form how little feed I need to put out each day, that this time of year they are getting up to 75% of their food from the free ranging.

Caitlin did you still want some mutt pullets or hens? I can pull a group out some evening and you can pick some out the next day. Let me know.

i gave mine a pit from a plum today, and i'm not sure they liked the taste or chasing each other around better.

I picked some raspberries for the girls (and boy) - they loved them! We have a ton of blackberry bushes - I'm expecting that they will probably try to get at these?!

anyone want some free roosters?

there is Ray, a self-blue Orpington rooster, who loves to be held and pet. He's gorgeous, but just found his voice.

I also have one other splash rooster, not much to look at compared to Ray, and two dark blues, one may be a pullet.

They're about 15 weeks old, and are in the attached picture.

I absolutely hate to give them up, especially Ray, but need to keep my neighbors happy.

I have a tentative appointment to have them processed with a friends meat birds, but am trying to find alternatives.

Let me know if you, or anyone you know might be interested.
