Is there a way to get a pic of the underneath on the top picture? ThanksI would only leave the chick in there for a few hours at a time. They can struggle to get out, and can get hurt, so keep an eye on them. Place food and water close enough to reach. Here are a bunch of homemade chairs and slings:

I have a question- Are the chickens feet supposed to touch the ground or just hang there? Here is a basic design which can be made out of mesh, fabric, or canvas secured to a box or crate, or hung from a pole or cage:

This is actually a wonderful idea, to add the removable roost bar for a bit of "normalcy". I had a cemani roo with a vitamin deficiency, who lived in my home office for 8 months before being well enough to join the flock. He ended up with an awful "bedsore" on his breast becuase I didn't realize that laying around all day, even on a soft fleece blanket would cause a pressure sore. That eventually healed once he started being more mobile, but it was a long recovery.I (and two vets) suspect that my Light Brahma, Goose, has Marek's. About three months ago, she started limping, and now she is unable to stand. She still moves one leg, but I think she may have hurt it while compensating for the unusable leg, so we made her this sling. We included a removable roosting bar for her to grab on to since she always loved to perch on her roosts, and my husband 3D printed her some cup holders for her food. Goose is about a year old.

If we can ever help any of you by making and sending you one of these to help your chicken, we'd love to. We are also working on designing a similar structure that is smaller and for chicks that can quickly be 3D printed and shipped out to help those of you dealing with baby chicks with splay legs and such. We would do it for free or cost. Not looking to make money. Just looking to help all of the chickies. Feel free to send me a message if any of that sounds like it could help out your chooks.![]()
How is she? Did she ever recover? You should sell these online. I had a few die from Mereks and I tried to make slings and they would somehow get out of them. They would still be able to move their wings and one foot and I’d find them all messed up in the sling or laying under it. I would of bought one of those you made if I had found them when mine were sick.I (and two vets) suspect that my Light Brahma, Goose, has Marek's. This would be extremely helpful! I have a five month old barred rock hen with what I believe to be Marecks (she was vaccinated). She is hungry and thirsty but have been having a time of it with hee getting stuck on her back.I (and two vets) suspect that my Light Brahma, Goose, has Marek's. Welcome To BYCI’m fairly certain my chicken has Marek disease so it’s a matter of comfort care, so remember all those facemask we wore for Covid well, I put two together and suspended her over her brooder box. She seems more comfortable standing then when she was laying I have one facemask in the front and one facemask in the back I put a tube through the elastic straps and have her suspended so she can put pressure on her one good foot. She seems very content and comfortable.
