very 1st turkey ever

Im getting a turkey Saturday, and im nervous ive never had a turkey before so im nervous. I heard they cant be with chickens becasue they carry a disease that can kill turkeys is this true? Also when should i put him outside and what can i do to get himt o make it thoguh the winter?

You will want to read up on Blackhead. Chickens can carry it , but Blackhead can also be found in the soil. Very differing opinions on Blackhead, so you may need to make your own decisions. Good Luck and Enjoy your turkey. We love ours and they are much more personable than our chickens.
