VERY Aggressive Rooster: Please Help!

I have 3 Delaware Cockerals out of 13. I ate the other 10.

2 are very human friendly. The other is a bit indifferent. He will take a peck a bit if he feels bothered. The hens and pullets bully all 3.

The 2 Icelandic cockerals I have are skittish with humans, not aggressive at all. They are somewhat aggressive with other males.
I love delewares! I had 2 but someone stole one, not surprised with the rooster thing they’re normally more aggressive

This guy is a golden laced wyandotte. If you (or others) have had positive experiences with other breeds I’d love to know that too! I haven’t had enough rooster experience to know how much is breed selection (nature) vs nurture.
That’s frustrating! One of our best roosters was a GLW! He was protective and a good leader, but moved away from the humans and focused on the females of his flock.

We had a pretty bad rooster once. We kept him for awhile bc I was his main target, not my kid (a tween at the time). He did try to attack the kid a couple times, but kid was able to keep him controlled, plus he was handled a lot by the kid. Then he tried to attack my spouse- once, who instinctively flung out his leg, which happened to hurl the mean rooster away head over tail…so rooster left spouse alone once he got his bearings back. But me…he stalked! Maybe it was the laces on my boots (my boots were the only ones with laces). So, I carried around my rebar garden stake-it was basically an extension of my body, I never struck the rooster with it. It worked to just hold it away from me in a vertical manner, so he would encounter it first. He tried biting it a couple of times, but I guess beak on metal wasn’t so great. It worked for the time we had him. Then a better male was old enough to take over, so we got rid of the mean one. We’ve had a few since then. One was definitely thinking about attacking us but never did.

Good luck!

Problem solved, our kind neighbor farmer came and picked him up this weekend and will be enjoying some rooster soup. I was so sick of him I didn’t even care to eat him. So grateful for all the support! Thanks all!

I imagine the relief is amazing, and I bet your hens have settled down too. You will never put up with another one. As AArt says, roosters are where the romance of keeping chickens meets reality. It is hard, but so worth it.
