I got 18 eggs this past weekend and put them in the bator Saturday. Today is day 6, so I thought I should be able to see some movement or veins. I candled the eggs in the bathroom by placing the egg on top of an empty toilet paper roll and a flashlight. I was doing good, didn't even THINK an egg would fall through the tube. I got to my pretty blue-green Aruacana egg, and it fell through

There was a baby inside too....I killed it!!!

Between my embryo accident and having a bunch with cracked/oozing shells....I'm down to 11.

I feel so very sad. Not trying to start a debate, but I can't image having an abortion, I feel so broken up about the chicken I accidentally killed

It's a shame when accidents happen, I would suggest rethinking your comparison, it's inflammatory and might start a debate by accident.

Things like this happen, and its not your fault.

I killed my favorite chick 3 years ago, because I didnt latch the door open, and the wind caught it... I dont think I need to finish the story.

Theres nothing you can do about it now, but remember not to do it again.

Good Luck with your 11 eggs!!
Im prayin for the little guys! (or gals.)

I'm not trying to be inflammatory..just posting my feelings of loss. When I put these eggs in the incubator, in a weird way I felt like I was their new mother. I'm not judging those that feel differently. Just stating my position and feelings...don't think there is anything wrong with that.

Did the same thing. My egg just cracked, so I up wax on it, and tried it till the end of the hatch, yea no good, died anyway. I felt so clutsy. It was the first embryo I saw move in the egg too.

I'm a sucker like you. I get so protective, even of little embryos.
And if I see them moving, then there's no way I'd ever be able to cull an egg. I'm absolutely stuck with my little swimmers.

We all experience loss when trying to meddle with life. It is an equally rewarding and devastating experience to do so. Keep your chin high, and know that every loss is an experience that may save another. Good luck with the rest of your eggs.

I'm very sorry you lost the chickie.

Unfortunately, things like that happen. I know, it stinks, and it makes you feel bad. Keep an eye on the remaining 11, and with any luck, you should have a decent hatch for yourself.
