Very excited about my new Heated Water Fount!

I liked the new heated waterer so much that I added a second Allied Precision "new" Model 33 and it too has performed as expected. I can keep ice free water in the coop and the run around the clock. We've had a run of below zero temps with evening wind chills reaching -11. I haven't seen any ice in either waterer yet.

The other day, my son forgot to plug in the waterer we have for the run after filling it. The tray was frozen solid the next morning. Even though the high that day was 28, the waterer had enough power to thaw itself in short order that morning. I was surprised that it would.

Sounds good so perhaps they did finally fix the bugs in this version?

Be careful, there are quite a few of the old models still in stock at many dealers.

One thing that can be an issue with these waterers is that they fill to within a quarter of an inch of the rim of the fount. This means that they must be hung from above, as it is nearly impossible to keep them perfectly level. Since I use mine in a tractor, this is not too much of an issue as the feeders and the waterers are all suspended from the ceiling.

I spoke to the engineer at Allied about this. He hopes to lower the water level on the next revision.
