Very funny...Thought I would share....

I WAS a spouse who needed "convinced". .... for 7 years I said, no way, not a chance, not going to happen, I don’t like birds, I don’t want birds, we NOT getting ANY birds!! ....... But, my husband was determined and wouldn't give up! He wanted them and wanted them bad! So after 7 years of this every time I turned around, the same argument over getting the poultry, I said (with much reluctance and a few sighs later) "OK!, but YOU tend to the darn things, you feed them, you water them, you build it all, you collect the eggs, you butcher them and you keep them away from the house!!! I'm NOT going to be a part of it, I didn’t want them and I’m not going to deal with them so don't ask!!! ........and now he's the one saying "STOP getting more birds. we have enough and we don't need anymore" and I’m saying "can we? can we? I want some more, can we?" LOL. Now I get mad at him for feeding them because that’s MY job and I LIKE to tend to them and I LIKE talking to them! He tells everyone I stole his birds!!! LOL……Sometimes persistence is a GOOD thing!!!

Good story. My wife took a little longer to come around, but then she did so with a vengeance! The cause was aided by a show that aired on National Geographic Channel called The Natural History of the Chicken in which people talked about their feelings (mostly pro - some con) about chickens.

There was a great story called Call Me Chicken - you an find the .pdf if you Google it. It helped soften my wife up, then a few days later I looked out the kitchen window to see her leaning on the run, watching my five girls scratch, with a beatific look on her face.

We've got her now! She named one of the pullets and now often remarks (unsolicited) how beautiful they are.
