I am really wanting a few chickens and still debating if it can happen (my town doesn't exactly allow them...) but my neighbors all said to go ahead.
i have 4 children, a great husband and a dog...why not add a few more critters to my life?

Have you tried going to your city and stress the importance of having chickens for self-sustaining food? I know there has been quite the movement here in Oregon. Portland has opened up areas and Eugene has increased the number of chickens allowed.
