Very New Member to BYC

Sorry that a problem with your chick brought you to BYC -- but glad that you sought out help from this amazing community of generous and knowledgeable folks.

Your mixed flock sounds amazing -- I have or have had all but one of the same breeds, and I think you are in for some great adventures with them.

I will check out the "injuries: thread, but I don't think I have a good answer to offer about your chick's behavior.

Welcome to BYC, and best wishes with all of your babies!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

Definitely give chicks plenty of room in the brooder, 1sq ft per chick. Make sure they aren't over heating, temp on the floor should be 85 degrees for 7 day old chicks. Install branches and roost bars for places to hop and play. Get a cereal box cut down and put some chick starter, Alfalfa leaves and a sprinkling of parakeet sand. This will entertain them and burn off excess energy. Chicks get restless and bored in the brooder.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found it while trying to find an answer to a behavior one of my chicks is showing. I was concerned and wasn't sure what to do about it. One chick is began scratching it's head like crazy and started aggressively pecking at just the eyes of the other chicks. None of the others are doing this. My topic for the question is within the injuries and cures section if you want to see the thread.
Welcome to BYC.
