Very odd situation with 1 week old chick...

I don't think my girl is going to fully recovery. She still will not lift her head all the way and tucks it down. She has some spells of walking backwards on her head too. I guess she's just always going to be like this. Not sure what else to do :/

Most everything I've read about this says that it can take up to a month of treatment. We are going to keep treating #7 for the full 4 weeks and go from there.

#7 is continuing to improve. She's right with the flock all the time now. We are still giving them NutriDrench but we've reduced to half strength and we continue to give vitamin E on a Q tip to #7 each morning. That is becoming more and more difficult as she has improved. She's fast!! Have not seen her have any episodes in the past 2 days but of course we aren't home during the day so it's difficult to know for sure. We're still guardedly optimistic that she is recovering fully.
Great!
Did you band her?

I haven't been giving as much oral nutri drench now because she is gettinf fiesty. Almost 6 weeks old but i have added a large amount to her water and just started adding some crushed selenium to the water. Today she does seem to be showing improvement. She can drink without it all spilling from her beak. She doesnt quite tilt her head all the way back but enough that she can drink much better. Shes inside alone not sure when to put her back out with her flock. Im thinking ill keep her inside at least another week

Wow! I didn't know that was even treatable, but yours seems to be recovering very well!

It sounds very hopeful. I'm glad she seems to be making a good comeback!

We are truly amazed at how she has progressed. We're banding them this weekend because it's getting harder to tell her from her sisters. Have seen no episodes in days. She is functioning as just one of the crowd now.

Good news my girl seems to have made a full recovery. Once i added the selenium to her water she perked right up and even can lift her head back to drink now. She is now flying out of the hospital box so I plan to add her back to the outside flock tomorrow. Do you think selenium will hurt my other birds if I put it in their water? Im going to do a trial run of just nutridrench in her water tonight and see if shes still fully recovered tomorrow.

That's awesome!! I don't know anything about the selenium. We just did the NutriDrench and Vitamin E. We've backed off to half strength NutriDrench now. Ours appears to be 100% recovered and is functioning normally in the flock.
