I searched about this but didn't find the specific info I needed.

Would it be ok to put 4.5 weeks old chickens in a rusted dog pen for an occasional nice day? I would be putting their plastic feeder and waterer in there as well.

Thanks!

Del :)

Is it secure? By dog pen I'm assuming chain link? Opening in the fencing is too big, you would need to put a liner of other fencing material at the bottom foot or two.

Thanks for replying! :) It's not chain link, it's like a cage that people use in their homes to put the dog in. Comes in a lot of different sizes. This one is about 2' high, 2' wide, and 4' long. There are no sticky-out parts, nothing dangerous to get scrapes or punctures. Just a black-coated wire cage that I left outside for a long time (feel bad about that).

Sure...if they all fit.
2x4 is not much space.

I use dog crates all the time...

I was just going to use it for my two 4.5 week old PBRs for some day visits to the great outdoors. The weather here is very tricky -- in the 70s yesterday and today, then dropping back down to 40s and 30s. I used a very small one I bought for my guinea pig. I also bought a huge crate when a store went out of business. Haven't needed to use it yet. Thank you for the link: I'll definitely check it out.
