Very sad day for me processing

You know, we all dread "the day when..." but when it comes, we deal with it, we grieve, we say a prayer of thanks if they're used for food, and we move on. If I had a dollar for every time I bawled my eyes out over a lost bird or other pet, I'd be a millionaire! I lost a male pheasant this weekend that I had only had in my possession for less than 24 hours, and it still makes me cry. But there's a difference between culling because there's a need (injury or food) and just killing an animal. They ALL leave footprints on our heart, whether we like it or not, but we do what's best.
