Today I had to process 4 birds. All were precious pets. I'm very sad
right now but wanted to share this, not for sympathy but hopefully to
help others who have to do this. Please no one say they are sorry.
I know my friends here care about me.
The first was a broad breasted turkey. She was starting to get weak
legs. We had her since September. She was the friendliest bird I have
ever had.
The second was a 2 year old Australorp who broke her leg somehow.
She was one of our originals.
The 3rd was a Spitzhauben. She was SO SWEET and lived with my silkie
flock. She had a bad leg that was getting worse. We would either
have to amputate or she would die of some side effect.
The 4th was a duck that Marlinchaser gave us. She was getting way to
aggressive towards the other hens.
Drumstick is with my mom so I did these 4 on my own. I wanted to
shield him from it. We lost a few birds in the last 2 months that I knew
should be culled but I waited and whimped out on.
All of them will be used for food and none will be forgotten.
Stupid birds.
