This thread has helped me, too, so thank you for being thorough and forthright. If it were me, I'd keep them as a 'closed flock'. That way they are segregated and if you tend other birds first and leave them until the end each day you should not have many contamination issues. A spray bottled, clearly labelled as a bleach/water mix is useful too. I believe your birds are now immune, though others will need protecting.

Using apple cider vinegar in your waterers will help keep the virus down too, even it if sheds in the water, when you wipe it clean you can immediately refill. I think you already know not to cross-use food/water containers or even rags...

Thank you both - the support is very welcomed. I didn't know that about the cider vinegar so thanks for that too. We'll start using it on both flocks. I'll hang a spray bottle of bleach too - great tips!

Thank you very much for sharing and I am so happy that your chickens seem to be recovering well.
I've had chickens only since Sept. last year. You have taught me a valuable lesson that I won't forget. Quarantine any new chicks or chickens for at least 30 days far away from my own flock.

Yes, what I learned was not only quarantine where they are away from each other's poop, but quarantine where they can't breathe the same air!

When I came home today, they were all perfectly fine. Even got two more eggs today and this time BOTH were brown!!! For the past few days I've gotten two eggs a day, but one was white and one was brown, so I think this is a good thing. I've kept them cooped up (pun intended!) all week so I decided to let them out for a bit tonight and it dawned on me that I never even posted pics! So here are my babies, hopefully all healthy and back to normal!

I'm glad your flock has recovered so well.

My Dominique seems to be doing just fine now. After 4 nights away from the flock, some TLC including VetRX and vitamin water, she seemed fit and fine, so I put her back with the flock last night. She was running around and scratching with them this morning.
