Very Sick Chicken Eye Issue

She was not this morning. I wont be home for another couple of hours. I forcefed her some yogurt this morning (it was easier then the mash mess last night)

I figured...I know she is close to death at this point. Hopefully she'll make it until I get her the antiobiotics tonight.

I'm starting to get sick now... coughing a bit.

if by chance you have a cat in the house, and you have some good quality canned cat food, try and offer her that. That has to be my chicken fave food. I only offer it in extreme hunger strike cases or when they need extra protein (moulting, loss of feather, skin injury etc). Maybe she will eat that.

It's probably unlikely she has passed something on to you - but everyone is sick everywhere right now, so you must have caught something from work.

I work from home except Monday's.... I am fighting it off at the moment.

She won't even eat straight molasses..so I doubt any kind of food would work. I am force feeding her the antibiotics with electrolytes/vitamins/honey/molasses.

==disgusting part ahead====
While forcing her to drink she sneezed and tons of snot came flying out it was disgusting. I had to change my shirt!

I'm hoping to get the other antiobiotics today..

The other bird seems O.K but I'm going to put them both on it.

have you started the tetracycline meanwhile? def put them both on it.

Tylan 200 is just more concentrated than the 50; baytril, you can get it prescribed from a vet, or order it online here http://www.allbirdproducts.com/bird_medication.html
but it will take a while to arrive.

tylan - injection would be the quickest delivery of the medication, but you can give it orally too. I am not sure on dosage for the 200, maybe someone can jump in? I'll look around as well.

Keep up the force feeding for sure, + vitamins etc. I'd try and get the stronger antibiotic right away.

I finally found a place that has Tylon 50. I'm planning to go get it at lunch..and inject it into both of them. I started them both on tetracycline last night.

Thanks for your help! This is brutual

I am so sorry you have to go through this, it is brutal!

for the tylan 200 i found this thread if it helps, anyways

scrolling down in it, this oral approach looks good to me since it came from a vet
I've used Tylan 200 with great success. But, I use it orally per my vet that specializes in poultry. They weighed my hen at 6.6 lbs then told me to give her a dosage of .23 cc (ml) once a day. If you give them too much it can damage their kidneys and liver. I had to administer this dose for over a week. It wasn't for CRD. Joint infection and then the other hen weighed the same for a coyote attack. Tylan 200 is concentrated as Dawg suggested. Good luck!

for tylan 50

dawg53 has excellent knowledge, so i would follow his instructions.
