Very sick chicken! Help :(

You may want to start your own thread if you don't get a lot of replies in this one. Sometimes they get overlooked because they have already been replied to.
I had a hen with an eye like that and it was Conjunctivitis. She also had Sinusitis and MS (Mycroplasma Synoviae). I had planned to cull her because she became blind from the disease(s) but she died on her own even with antibiotics. It is hard to say what it could be without a vet having a look. If you do cull, or if he dies, you may want to get a necropsy done to find out, as MS can affect the whole flock and any new birds you get will eventually get it.
If you want to treat him, try to find antibiotics- Tylan, Duramycin-10, there are several that may help.

Thank u for replying. I am 98% sure he is getting put down. It's very sad, he is very loved by many, but I think it is best for him. He does not act, or seem well at all.

It is a difficult decision to make but it is probably in his best interest to be culled. I want to save as many as I can but only if they can have a great quality of life. So sorry you have had to deal with this but hopefully you won't have it again. If there are other chickens in the flock consider have a necropsy done (most state labs do this for free) on him so you know for sure what you are dealing with. It will help in the long run when others get sick.

I wish there were more Avian Vets. I am lucky to have found one here in Georgia. He is only 45 minutes away and even gave me his cell number if I have concerns or questions.
From my own experience with illness only last month, I recommend anyone with chickens to search their state for labs, vets and anything they can to become familiar with treatment and diseases. It is the least we can do for our fuzzy-butt friends.

Yeah, this is going to sound HORRIBLE but this cock is infertile, and has been used in some great shows. and now he is so sick there is "no resin for him" I don't 100% agree with it, I guess you could just try and heal him and have him as a pet. if I could I would take him myself but sadly it is illegal for me to have roosters in my area. I had to give my boy away because of this vdry stupid rule. But I can visit him when ever I want, witch is fantastic...

I know it's about three hours from you, but the U of GA has a REALLY GOOD poultry diagnostics lab, if you ever need testing. http://www.caes.uga.edu/applications/personnel/deptunit.cfm?caesdept=Poultry Science
