Very small chick compared to the others, also possible cockerels??

Great face pics, by the way, when I was trying to determine the genders of my girls, it was impossible to take any pictures that even resembled chicks! :gig :cd

That's what I thought so clear , those are nice tame chickens , mine run around like ding dong heads

All the chicks are super... tame, actually. It's the ameraucana chicks that I have a hard time with

They seem very skittish and want nothing to do with me. I can try to get face pics (if I can grab them..!)

The rest of the chicks run right up an a few "ask" to be picked up. I love it (& them)!

Yeah, my ameraucanas were the same way when they were young, but with a little persistence and patience, they settled right down. (and with the help of them starting to lay eggs, and therefore squatting when I go to pick them up XD )
Good luck with the pictures!

I'm starting to think they're just different colors. I'm noticing that one's chest feathers are much lighter than the other. The wyandottes, though, I still question. Lacey (the larger one) is very bossy, and has a much wider comb than the other one. I hope she's not really a cockerel!

They both look like pullets to me. Yay!

These are pictures of our young ameraucana rooster before we had to give him away due to town laws. :( I was really sad because he was the only roo out of 5 other hens and they would have been so happy... He didn't even crow until really late. We heard him the first time when our dog decided to bark at him

Anyway if you notice a tail like his starting to develop, (the long silky rooster tail feathers are called sickle feathers,) you know you have a rooster. Also, this isn't a rule set in stone, but if ameraucanas have a 3 rows to their comb, they are usually male. Don't look too closely, though, because when it shows up it'll usually be pretty obvious.

peopleRanimals, any idea about the wyandottes? I read somewhere that if their comb is "wide" that could mean they're a roo, and Lacey has a very wide comb when comapred to pickle (they're the 2 wyandottes)

On a side note... Is one of the ameracaunas possibly a cockerel? or are they just different colors? I noticed, today, that one of their tails is light & longer, while the others tail is a lot stumpier and darker. I included pictures of the tails above
The Ameraucana are actually Easter Eggers. They are all too young to sex.
