She's lovely!!!

Thank you. I thought the same when my friend surprised me with her. She’s a tiny little gal, sweet,..doesn’t mind being held, but doesn’t like being picked up...will run away. I’m not used to that.

She’s got discoloration underneath her scales on her feet... it looks like trapped dirt under the scale. Anyone know how to clear that up? I gave her a light scrub with soap and water there, but it’s didn’t work. It doesn’t look like pigmentation.

Oh and I just looked up worms to ID possibly what she expelled before and I can’t find anything similar. I suppose the white dots before were from tapeworm, but the other worm I found in her poop after de-worming didn’t really look like a tapeworm. Not sure what it was.

I have a BPR with spotted legs. I thought it was something nefarious, but some birds just have unevenly pigmented legs. You can try scrubbing with a washcloth or soft toothbrush.

It's always possible that birds can be infected with one or more types of worms. It sounds like tapeworms. Equimax horse paste will take care of them. Please post a couple pics when you see something in her feces if you get the chance. She is a beautiful bird.

Since you saw worms already, I would go ahead and worm for the usual worms—roundworms, cecal, and the dangerous capillary worms with Valbazen or SafeGuard. Then is you see more dots in the poop, go ahead and use the Equimax which has praziquantel for tapeworms. A fecal float beforehand may tell if there are certain worms, but some report they have had negative fecal floats and still have seen worms. Pictures of poops if they show the dots would be helpful. It could also be possible that you are seeing granules of undigested food. Tapeworms usually move around in the poop.
