Very worried

I'm sorry to hear that Veronica passed away. I was hoping for good news as I read through this. Don't blame yourself. Animals unfortunately tend to hide their illnesses, so by the time you notice something is wrong, it's often too late. There was nothing you could have done, but you did give her a great life with lots of love.

She is gone. I don't know yet what was wrong. The vet is doing an autopsy tonight to find out if it is something that I have to worry about for the other ducks. She appeared to have a widespread infection. I never saw any indication of it. She was fine yesterday or at least appeared to be.
Rest in peace my precious Veronica. I will miss you forever.

I am so sorry that Veronica passed.

Ugh, it is so sad this morning to open the shed and not see her come waddling out. She was such a cheerful duck, and she made me smile every time I looked at her. Boy I miss her so much already.................

It will get better. Try and focus on what she brought you. I think that is the worse part of owning animals the loss that comes with it.

Whenever there has been such a loss, I think of this:

“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.”
C.S. Lewis, The Four Loves

I am so very sorry. I totally understand your feelings, but the vet did say you couldn't of done anything. Try to push out the bad memories and let the good ones take over.
