We raised backyard birds for 10 years in AZ with no roosters so we broke every broody. Now we’re with our first flock in NC. 22 hens and 3 unexpected roosters. The hens are no more than a month difference in age (we got from three different sources and therefore ages). The oldest of them just started laying maybe 8 weeks ago and we already have a broody Barred Rock. Is it normal to have one go broody so early? We’re rolling the dice here and letting her sit on a clutch of four eggs.
