Vet doesnt know what’s wrong with my hen’s foot… please help me figure out!

How is she this morning?
I’m still at home since vet said for me to come at 5 pm today. I’m so scared. I haven’t slept since yesterday. I’ll have an update once I get to talk to the them in a bit to find out how’s she holding up.

Thank you for asking, and for following my thread! It really helps knowing I’m not alone in this community!

Before she leaves, I have a few questions; 1. Did they remove the bumble? 2. Did they culture for sensitivity before choosing an antibiotic?

They didn’t remove the bumble. First visit confirmed she has bumble foot, and told me to medicate her, soaking, then sprayed with tricide solution, twice a day. He foot was already swollen, and had liquid seeping out of her toes. They were looking terrible but vet didn’t seem to be too concerned about those details.

I soaked her feet in epsom bath twice a day for 2 days. Noticed her toes and the discoloration looked worse. I stopped the soaking and just addressed her foot and bandage. It seems to have helped with stopping the “ liquid” 2 days after. But, I wasn’t able to soften the scab under her foot pad. So I wanted her to come in again for the vet to look at, which was yesterday.

I don’t think the vet did any of the tests, but I’ll ask him later when I come in this afternoon.

IF there are questions I should note down to ask, please help me. Thank you so much! Thank you for reaching out, it means a lot to me during this time!

@Eggcessive. The first thing my vet would do is remove the bumble, the next is determine the proper antibiotic, thoughts?

Just called to check in to n her and was told “she’s currently stable” From the tone of it, it sounds as if they’re not offering further treatment or solutions… So I have a strong feeling they have resolved to decide that her foot will eventually “falls off” and she’s more than likely a handicapped hen and her foot won’t recover.

I’ll talk to the vet more later and will update.

Thank you everyone for all your support and reaching out! I definitely couldn’t have survived this emotionally without each of your words, support, and prayers. It means the world to me.
