Vet? Or home care?

I got him at the end of may (23rd) and he was a little baby and yellow. And this is a now picture. My husband got him and I have no actual information on what kind of duck he/she is or anything. I was only prepared for chickens.

Pekin Oops and seriously bad feet...

Have you supplemented with niacin at all? Water fowl that have been fed chick starter need extra niacin to have strong legs. I'd begin by buying a B Complex liquid and giving it to him daily. Depending on where you get it is how much to give. But I would at least try. TSC carries B complex in the cattle section that will be 1 ml daily Walmart and other pharmacies carry human B complex and that would be 3 ml a day since the cattle is a stronger solution It will say Injectable on the cattle bottle but we give it orally.

I just posted on your welcome thread. :)
I see you have chickens and only one duck due to losing your other duck. Are you housing your duck with the chickens? That could be at least one reason why your ducks feathers are in that condition.
Also, what happened to your other duck? Just gathering more info.

Pekins grow very fast and get very heavy. He has outgrown his legs. Hopefully some niacin supplement or B complex can help him regain the strength.

You could also try making a sling in a tote for him to sit in, with some water in the bottom for leg excercises. Does he get to swim at all? Similar to this, but something that will support the duck. Good luck!

If you give him the vitamins casportpony and wvduckchick suggested and he is deficient, it will take a couple of days and you should see some improvement. Especially if his hip joints are sticking out a little. Which is common in Pekins. Also we see leg issues in Pekins due to niacin deficiencies right around your ducks age. This would be my first guess as to why he’s having problems.

Some of the issues that other BYCers posted don’t have as good of a prognosis. They can sometimes get an infection in their joints causing pain and swelling. This doesn’t fix itself and requires antibiotics. If your little one had a tumble and hurt it’s spine like CR suggested, there isn’t a lot you can do for it other than keeping it quiet and calm and hoping it will heal. Or you could see a vet, the spine isn’t something you want to mess around with. Does he have any sores on the bottoms of his feet?
