Our second hen now has sour crop. The first one had to go all the way to crop surgery. But she is fine now.

I want to see if you agree with the vet for this hen.

Amoxicilin/Clavulante susp. (antibiotic) twice a day
Fluconazole (anti-fungel) once a day

Given with baby bird powdered food and water

all down a feeding tube stuck into her crop.

My main thing is I wonder if anti-fungal is better on an empty crop without food right after.
Also, the choice of fluconazole which I have never heard anyone here mention.

I just worry because these meds did not help our first hen until after she had surgery.

Why would both hens get this?

Thanks

I can't give you any information on the medications because I have never had to seek treatment, but I can tell you that some Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar will do wonders for a sick crop. Add 1-2 tablespoons per gallon of water.
