Vicious Rooster help please

carry a spray bottle of water . when he shows aggression, soak him good. after awhile you won't have to spray him, as long as he sees you have the bottle hanging from your pocket
In over 50 years of poultry, I have had only one rooster and one turkey tom that were aggressive.. I sold the tom and ate the chicken. they taste especially good ..

Thanks for the reply. I’ll give that a try. I had thought about it as I’d sprayed him with hose the other night and it stopped him in his tracks 😂
I have a bottle that was previously used for the cats and worked well in stopping them scratching the sofa. It’s definitely worth a try! Thanks you

When he's stalking you, he's not protecting his flock!
Even if you manage to teach him to avoid you (highly unlikely!) he will still attack any other human who appears. Children loosing eyeballs is just one bad outcome here!
How's your liability insurance?

There are no children in my household or within a half mile radius of my property. The chickens live in my back garden which is fenced off and absolutely no chance of a child entering by accident.

You will be facing a lot of pressure here to dispatch or re-home. A lot with a lot of emotion. I can do my part via private messaging.

I agree with @centrarchid. You can repair your relationship with this rooster. A fearful rooster is an aggressive rooster. He needs to respect you, and whacking him or scaring him any time he comes near is going to make things worse.
He is getting some sort of a reward out of his or @mothernatureshelper reactions at this point.

When a real preditor arrives, he is just as likely to beat all the others to a safe location.
He has made you his b!t €# and it is not likely to stop.
My first action would be to ring his neck and chuck him in a hole, but... you arent there yet.
Trimming his spurs would be your first step. Go and remove him from his perch after dark with a head light. Not sure if you have a helper or not. But i do this by myself. I use a pair of hand garden clippers. I clip each spur back to about an inch.
How about trying a pair of pinless peepers? This would be a temporary fix because they eventually will have to come off.
I feel sad that you are in this delima as i know it is likely wrecking your chicken expierence. The removal of this stupid and vicious bird would return you and your hens to a peaceful and enjoyable existance.
Dont cuddle and carry him anymore.
The only thing that will fix this situation is that your rooster has to fear you, and return his attitude to a healthy respect of your dominance.
Right now its the reverse.
To me, the concept of a pet for life applies to my dogs.
What your rooster is a minature hormone driven dianasaur. You are not giong to win him over and become his best friend. You are either at the top of the pecking order , or you are not.

Whooaaa guys - for the record I DO NOT whack him every time he comes near me. I have never whacked him! The only physical contact I have made with him is to “lift” him with my foot! By this I mean putting my foot between his legs and lifting him off the ground. I have tried various methods which I have not listed but none of them involve me whacking him! Some methods recommended where to run at him flapping your arms to look like a dominant rooster (didn’t work) walking boldly at him (didn’t work) I’ve sweet talked him, Hand fed him treats and the list goes on but NEVER beaten him!
