My thing is I don't know how to shoot a gun, I am not the toughest person when it comes to my animals, and I want it painless for her. I don't want a mangled bird left after she's gone. I figured in the morning make her a casket and make her grave and let her enjoy the sunshine for a little while. She'll enjoy some yogurt hopefully and then she'll be pain free

I have used the broomstick method to cull. It works best with two people, but can be done with one. You lay preferred facedown and the broomstick across the neck of the bird, with two people in the second person can already step on one side of the broomstick to secure it. Person 2 grabs the chicken by its legs, firmly!. Then, one person steps down on the broom while the other pulls back and up on the legs, a thus breaking the neck. If done firmly enough, the head might actually come off. This can be a bit disturbing, but at least you know the chicken is out of its misery. Whatever method you use, remember that the second will flop around for several minutes, which does not mean it's alive, it's just an automatic neuromuscular response. Good luck and

She wouldn't eat yogurt this morning, and didn't walk around the yard but a couple of steps. She was gasping so bad. I had to cull her. Culling may sound easy to some; it's not
