Video: Silkie cock with curled neck HELP EMERGENCY!!!!

I found my Premier Silkie rooster with a curled neck. He is on his feet but he face plants forward into the shavings.

His neck is curled almost like an ewe neck except it's curled down and he's falling forward.


Any ideas on what to do or what's behind this?

So far I have given him baby bird formula for electrolytes, vit e, selenium, complex b,

I'll give him sub q fluids next to keep him hydrated.

But without having any idea why he's like this don't know if any of that will help.

go to advanced search and put wry neck in until someone can help you that knows more about it then i do. i know there is a couple different reasons , vitamin deficiency, newcastle . keep him away from the others too

oh, and when mine had that, i would hold the water dish low and support his neck and head and he could drink as long as i held it still

no, its either vitamin def. or illness.

My husband says vitamin deficiency.

Thinking back, we had another silkie with this. We had to provide supportive care for a whole but they did come out of it.

Wry neck can be from a head injury, a disease such a Mareks, Newcastles, and others, and from vitamin E, selenium, or B1 deficiency. Here is some info on how to treat it:

I think he's getting better. We'll have to keep him hydrated and force fed for a few days.

I also have him metacam for inflammation. So between all of the above, something helped.

the posts eggsessive gave you are good ones. it is my understanding it takes a long time to treat. more time then i had. i lasted about a week. i hope he does well.
