I was happy it was reinstated, but when the reporter asked if they felt they owed him an apology the reply was "For what exactly?" I wanted to drag that moron through the phone and beat the snot out of him.

I read that too; it really made me mad. Now he has to try and get back on the donor list and start the waiting game again.

It was all BS and I wanted to pull that jerk through the phone too.

He sounded so uncaring and smug.

Our Vets are treated worse than in any other country. Most countries treat their's like REAL heros. We jus don't treat them the same.

I used ot like to look at the things my husband had and ask him how he earned what. He didn't like to talk about it much.

One thing he would say about his Bronze Star and 3 Purple Hearts, was "All those and a buck, won't buy me a cup of coffee."

He was right. I have a few benefits as his survivor, but no money what so ever. Really bothers his friends. Thay say it's like he bever existed. That's how a lot of Vets feel too.

It's disgraceful.

The new healthcare law was supposed to stop insurance companies from dumping; i.e. getting rid of high cost patients for the slightest of reasons. I don't know if that part didn't pass, or hasn't been enacted yet. Not terribly surprising though; insurance companies are all about profit, and guys like him aren't profitable.

I have never, never been able to figure out why we don't have better insurance (both medical and life) for our vets. They get the worst care in the world at VA hospitals and don't even have the right to sue if the doctors (med students) screw up and kill them (like they did my Daddy). Life insurance; if you're military you can't get private life insurance and what is the current death benefit from the government? I don't remember but it's not enough to help the surviving widow with children get anywhere. It's just a shame.

Never give them an opening, or they will take it.

Health insurance is a business. Anything they can get out of paying, they will.

Things will change, but gradually, and laws will be required and lots of lawsuits. Insurance companies have an immense amount of self-empowerment when it comes to abdicating responsibility. They've gotten out of paying for mental health conditions for a very, very long time. Now some states have parity laws - that's a start.

I think the military insurance is $45,000 and geez I have all the books here, but I can't remember if death while serving is 1k or 100k......big difference I know.

Take forever to get an appointment with the VA. My husband hadn't been feeling well and took 3 months for an appointment. I'm still so mad that he didn't go to the hospital on 4th of July, so they could have maybe found out he had a heart problem, but everytime he went they did the basic stuff and told him to wait for an appoinment, so he didn't want to go.

He didn't have life insurance either through the VA or private. I don't get Survivor's payments, since his VAD was due to PTSD. Poor guy thought no matter what the VA would look after us. So many people don't realize that there's things you have to do to make sure you're covered in case of death. I recently met wives of retired Vets who though thing were covered and they aren't, now they're losing homes and after moving from base to base all their lives, they have to start over.

Healthcare is just horrible anyway.
