That 'toxic plants' thing is nothing but a bunch of garbage. It sets people to worrying for no good reason(s).
Chickens know what they can and can't eat. We have those &#%#!*$^ morning glories growing wild here like crazy...amazing that none of my birds have ever eaten the seeds from them and died...no, it's *not* amazing, because they know not to eat them! (I *WISH* they could eat them as they're nothing but a nuisance plant!)
You who is suddenly worried that your birds ate some sweet potatoe vines...are any of your birds dead or acting sick yet? Know why they aren't? Because the birds know they can eat them or how much of anything they can eat. How come no one says anything about birds eating feathers? Yet they do, but they don't make huge meals out of them and if they did they *know* they can eat them.
Then there's the 'cedar is bad for them!' scare. Mine rest during the day under a particular cedar tree in a grove of cedars that hides my whole house from the road. They scratch in the cedar debris on the ground in this grove, they dust in the debris...guess what - not one dead chicken. Oh my!
Quit worrying so much about what they're going to eat...they know what they can and can't eat. If one is going to worry this much about having chickens around, it's just not worth it, life's too short to fret over something so badly.
