Hello, all. I suppose a first post ought to go here.

I'm near Warrenton, about forty miles due west of Washington, D.C. The wife and I are lucky to have several acres - around 3 acres cleared, and another couple in woods. I've been interested in raising chickens for a long time (I still have a couple of books on backyard poultry purchased from Borders, when that much-loved and much-missed book store was still around).

Anyway, I finally pulled the trigger. The 4x6 chicken coop was delivered several days ago (purchased instead of built... because my DIY projects inevitably involve multiple trips to the big box store... which is probably not prudent right now. I'll likely build a larger coop once the current madness passes). And I've got a half-dozen White Leghorns (five girls and a boy) on order, with a late-May hatch date.

Can't wait to see chickens running around out in the yard!

And looking forward to gathering up some of the wisdom from you fine folks!

Jeff

Hello, Jeff, and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
So is NY!
Nice choice with the WLHs.
I've found mine to be sassy but soft spoken beautiful little ladies.
