yeah just add up that gas bill and see how much cheaper electric is. my mom needed help years ago went 20 days without electric and man on radio said he would never say anything good about the good old days ever again he was hauling drinking water they brought in from outside in big tanks lucky for mom i brought her home with me.
oh i'm not arguing. i WANT my electric back. but they better not expect any $ from me for a while... this outage has cost me about $300 so far, and that's just for gas, not counting other necessities.

well day 5 of no power has come and gone, and day 6 has begun (as of about 8pm)... and no end in sight yet.

i'm still heading to the christiansburg swap on saturday, if anyone wants anything i've got...

1 bantam RIR, pair of blue/splash wyandotte bantams, 4 white chicks (either rhode island or plymouth rocks i think), 1 black chick (australorp possibly?) - the ?? chicks came in "LF Pure" egg mix.
also some oegb chicks, a barred cochin cross, white cochin pullet (just started laying), pair of gold neck d'uccles, and lots of purebred dorkings (silver grey, red and colored). I'm thinning the flock to work on primarily my silver greys, roger tice reds (hatching now) and a couple extra pullets to keep for eggs & color genetics experimentation.

i may also bring an assortment of chicks, including a black ameraucana, color cross dorkings and possibly some bantam cochin chicks too. i've got way too many of them. LOL
wish my coop was done i want some amweacuna's

I am right there with you ki4got, we still don't have power either in Rke city. Gonna have to make another run to get gas for the generator soon. At least Cox is back up so I can get on the Internet! Feel like I have some civilization, and can find out quicker what's going on. I hope the power comes back before Sat. Like they are saying but I guess at this point, what is 2 more days! I also work from home (mostly during the summer) and haven't gotten anything done except the day I took the kids to the library and I was so far behind in emails thats all I got done!

Hey, I'm in Soptsylvania.

My neck of the woods never went out of power but we had a few tornados rip right through the back yard. It tore my makeshift coop up, and had me running around in those winds trying to collect all my ducks and little bannies. But other than lightening striking the house we're perfectly fine.
Family bussiness is landscaping/tree removal/contractor so i know exactly how bad some of you have it :/.
Hope everythings going okay today for you all.

WHO WANT'S TO BET ON BEING THE LAST ONE IN THIER COUNTY TO GET ELECTRIC?

This is you not me, I never lost it ,though some in Warren co Virginia did not have electic yesterday.

oh i'm sure i'll be it. i'm the last house on the last branch of service for aep. my nearest neighbor 1/3 mile down the road has electric and never lost it. they're on craig bodetourt...

Ki4got - Oh my, I feel for you! I'd be crazy by now.....You are in very good spirits for being without something I take for granted every day....I won't anymore. Be safe and well. Hopefully you get it back by the weeks end

yeah well the bugger of it all, i've been off work for most of the week. i find out TODAY! that the call center's been up and running. where the last thing i heard monday morning, they had no phone or a/c... so every morning i've called in, talked with command center and they tell me take a tech day, everythign's still messed up. call a co-worker, she says having phone problems. but tech days are unpaid unless i had vacation time left. i had 1 day. it's gone now. today i called in, got the same thing. then called command center again, and talked to someone else there, who says, oh everything's working jsut fine far as i know. so hubby's mad at ME for lying to him (i was going by what i was told) and taking the days just to be lazy and play with my chickens all day.

so now i'm not only broke from feeding the bleeping generator, i'm going to remain broke until i get the NEXT paycheck after this one comes up. then i get to play catch up for the rest of the year probably.

so everyone come out to the christiansburg swap on saturday and help me out here by taking some chickens home!

Anyone in Southwestern Va in need of an Easter Egger Rooster? I have three that are now about 3 months old. I do not want to mail them so someone near would be great.
