So I am a in town chicken owner with 6 ft fences.
However one of my silly chickens got into the neighbors yard (luckily good friends) The husband video taped the wife chasing the silly chicken while he laughed hysterically. Good thing they got us to help before we left for the store or the chicken would have spent the night in their yard!! He laughed even harder when I got to the back yard and said "silly chicken get over here" and she came running for me to pick up!

I just checked everyone's wings the day prior hmmmmmmm....

i've found if i'm clipping, don't clip them symetrically... clip only the flights on one side or the other, then they just flap in circles.

...I dont think she has the urge to explore again, all her buddies were on the other side and it was almost sunset so she was pretty desperate to go home!

So my easter egger confirmed she was an easter egger yesterday and laid her first egg!! followed by another one today!

yay! almost looks like a rock tho, i had to look again. LOL

i think my blrw bantam finally laid her first. the white cochin (for sale btw) is laying pretty reliably now.

on the down side, Junior, my 2nd oldest roo (a late bloomer), is finally trying to find his place in the pecking order... and losing horribly i think. he's challenged everyone (except maybe the bantam roos), and is bloody to boot. tho he went at it with big guy for much longer than i would have thought... but junior definately came out worse for the wear. but he's getting a new home in alabama this weekend, so he won't have to be low-man any more. he's challenged 2 silver greys, 1 red, the lf blrw roo and my ee roo (the youngest) and lost to all of them! poor guy.

It does look like a rock and it is very pebbly textured!

Hopefully junior will do well with a change in scenery!

at these swaps, is it still the law to purchase 6 chicks at once? If not, you'll probably see me at Tractor Supply! We need two more chickies!

Karen, those new SFH's are wonderful!!! LOVE hen #2 - the red on the body with the black crest is neat. And your chicks are just too much. I might have to get a couple from the feed store JUST so I can sit and stare at them. LOL

Jennie and Mabelino - as far as I know there is no minimum (or maximum) on chick purchases at the swaps. I just walked around with a couple of cat carriers and got 2 of these and 2 of those and 2 of the others...
