I only got to stay a very little while. )o: Got the eggs (o: Got the roo (o: Got some EE babies (o: Got to meet some new friends :-D Wish I could've stayed longer but needed to get the babies home anyway.

Thanks to bulldogma and ki4got for the SFH chicks. Six have settled in nicely to the brooder and are doing the chick thing exploring the world while making mess! :)

Unfortunately I lost one chick that was in distress when I picked it up. I couldn't get it to take any electrolytes and the heat pack and body heat didn't seem to help.

It was good to meet the both of you. Hopefully it warmed up for you both and yo thawed out!

Gilmanor-bound!!!!!

Gathering up all the cell numbers to meet up with folks... making sure I have water-ers for the carriers...  wishing I had found a little wagon to borrow for toting around things at the swap...  making plans to meet up with my buddy (who is tasked with dragging me to the truck before I get in too deep)...  just about to BUST with excitement   :celebrate

I so enjoy going there but couldn't swing the three hour one way drive today. Cannot wait to see pictures and hear updates.

Had a great day at Gilmanor. Sold out by 10am but was stuck in place until 2:30pm. But that was ok, I got to walk around and see everything and meet some folks I've only chatted with here. Other than the chilly morning it was was a wonderful day. Can't wait for the fall swap.

Defiantly enjoyed Gilmanor! We picked up TONS of hatching eggs Tennessee Red Quail,Coturnix Quail, 2 dozen splash Ameraucana and some Olive Eggers. Already set in the incubator and ready to go!

my remaining cochins/ee and blrw that I brought home are now happily in the brooder, momma's had a late dinner and drink and now we're all headed for bed. finally!

Leah & Karen,

I absolutely enjoyed meeting you and chatting about chickens, kids, & life. Somehow, I think chickens help capture life in a zen kind of way. I got my beautiful SFH roo home with no problems. He was excited to check out the new homestead but his new family was much less than receptive. I have a dominant 7 week old EO roo who did not want him there at all. Along with the others jumping in, it created quite a scene. I was prepared for this possibility. This has caused the first separation of breeds among the rising pullets and cockerels. The roo is now homing with three 7 week old SFH pullets with no hassles from the other roos.

I will give this little guy credit! I have 3 older black sex-link pullets that ~ 13 weeks old; one of which is very dominant and chases the other 7 week old little roos and pullets. This guy backed her down! She tried twice to abuse him and he would have none of it! She backed down and left him alone. Not bad for an 8-9 week old roo!
