Unfortunately the no rooster within city limits in cities causes this terrible problem. People get and then they discover boys in the group. I hope you are able to find a home for him. A school project in caring for small animals? School mascot? Bathing him, keeping him, warm and dry, lots of good food and TLC. Good luck in finding a home for him. Sincerely. Wishing well for all. Run a contest for naming?

Maybe an area vet could help with names of people who live outside the city limits who raise chickens. If I was close I might take him. But we are just a bit too far away for a quick rooster run.

Does anyone have information about a chicken/poultry sale in Harrisonburg? I think it is this Saturday....it is on Rt#33. But I don't know exactly where. Or can anyone suggest how I would find out? I've tried calling all kinds of places with no luck.

Goodmorning, backyard chicken keepers! I am new here, and sorry to butt in! Yesterday afternoon we found a darling little silkie rooster, wandering around JB Fischer elementary school, just south of the James river in Richmond. All of the parents said he had been there all day, hiding under cars. He doesn't seem particularly well cared for :c We have bathed him, and he will get another today. (I have never smelled anything like him!) And we are also treating bumblefoot on both feet, and a few other wounds. We are trying to locate his family! If he was abandoned because we cannot keep roosters in Richmond, or because of sickness, we will need to find him a forever home. Please help find somebody to love him? He is just the absolute sweetest little thing!

Hello, I am hoping you were able to find a home for your roo found in the parkinglot. If not you may need to repost for ideas from others as to what to do. I also wondered if you had checked with a zoo, an animal refuge, any farms in your area, or possibly a protected nature walk to see if they were interested. Some have petting zoos. Since you did not have follow up and someone also helped bring attention to this situation, I did not want yours buried in the posts. Hope everything worked/works out for the little fellow.

Hope you are able to find the roo a good home. We live in Gloucester but my husband works in Williamsburg. I know there is a rooster that roams near where he works and everyone has just kind of adopted him. It is nice when it works out like that.

I would be taking pictures for a report to the Postmaster. There is NO excuse for a box to be delivered looking like that! Those eggs had a "bad day" and it seems to me it is time for several humans to also have a bad day.

hello Virginians! ... i'll most likely be moving to VA within the year... i've got peafowl and was hoping someone would be able to give me info or a link letting me know where the peafowl would be legal... any help is greatly appreciated... thanks, john
