Welcome to all our new Virginian BYCers!
If you have any questions, feel free to ask here.
If you live near a border or visit another state often, you might consider joining another state forum. I'm very close to NC and that forum is chatty! I figured if I was willing to drive the distance to buy a bird (or whatever) I should join their thread to become aware of their swaps, meets, and shows.
After that monsoon last night, my chicken pens are muddy! I started to do the bed check at regular time, but decided they were either already in bed or drowned! That rain was coming down solid. After I put the sick child to bed (she ran as high as 104!), I did my bird rounds. All were tucked in their houses and gave me the stink eye when I spot-lighted them.
By the way, it's Spring and the roosters are feeling their.... oats. Red (almost two years old) got into the pen with Fried (almost one year old). Youth won over age and wisdom. I didn't recognize Red when I first saw him. Apparently both boys spent all afternoon fighting in the rain. They both looked like drowned rats and I could really see that Fried out weighs Red. Red's normally cream body feathers looked like mud. He's a Red Sex Link so he's cream with red markings. One wattle got torn.
Chicken drama is only marginally better than teenager drama!
