Virginia

I'm in Rockingham County, where zoning apparently prohibits chickens in my R1 neighborhood. Writing a proposal now for the zoning commissioner to take the to the board of supervisors. Would love support and help!
I'd be happy to! Is there something online I can sign?

Hi Everyone, just looking at a potential move. Richmond area isn’t friendly towards my 17 hens, I’ve read; correct me if I’m wrong, please. Where could I live in VA, with Richmond being my place of work, that would welcome my 17 hens (and me of course)? :)

Checking back here: each county has there own ordinance. Where’s the best chicken loving place around RVA that one can move to? I’m even ok with a 30 minute commute just to keep my hens happy.

Hi, fellow Virginians. I'm in Henry County, near Martinsville. We bought a house on 6 acres over the summer. I see that some people here are from the Roanoke area. And there are some North Carolinians not too far away. Sweet! :frow
Howdy neighbor! I am just now looking at the VA thread...

I'm in Patrick County. Moved here from the city last year to start my homestead dream. I inherited a flock of 10 this summer. 7 acres, hoping to add meat rabbits and goats in the near future.

One of my views this morning. Massanutten can be seen there in the background to the right.

I'm up the mountain near Meadows of Dan. It's been a fabulous year for the fall leaves, I expect they're looking pretty good out your way about now. Hubby and I have been loving it here so far!

Hope you're staying warm!
Oh yes!
This is one of the slowest, driest, prettiest falls in ten years. Enjoy it! Because usually it rains a ton and the rain and wind knock all the leaves down before you get to enjoy them. And there is mist on the mountains so you can't see them at their best. But this year it's fantastic! Although the lack of rain is making my allergies go nuts from all the leafy mold/dust etc. Haha.
