Hi all,

I am in Halifax County. Looking for someone within a few hours of me who is hatching Faverolles or other interesting breeds for sale - I just received an order of chicks from MPC who uses USPS who contracts out to Fedex and UPS - and 4 were DOA, another died that night, and one died yesterday. I am not happy.

I have a leghorn rooster and a barred rock/silkie mix rooster for sale. Seven dollars for the leghorn and five for the mix. I am in Mechanicsville. Let me know if you are interested.

I really, really want a Faverolle roo if I can get one. I had a beautiful boy - Roodee - but something got him. Found him all mangled - no one else hurt or missing - really strange. If I cannot get a healthy Faverolle before season out will let you know. Thanks very much. I'd love to see pictures of them though - could you post them? Or send them to my regular email: [email protected]

I live in Carrollton Va. No chicks yet and have not even built my coop yet. Just doing all the research i can for now. Will start the coop this winter and have chicks in the spring. In the mean time i will be on the forum absorbing all the info i can and probably asking some silly questions as i prepare to become a BYC landlord.

I did the exact same thing - haunted the forum for MONTHS before getting my first chicks. It would be helpful to find someone near you who has chickens and is willing to help you out too.
Where is Carrollton? I'm in Dinwiddie - south of Petersburg.

just a reminder to those looking for birds (or planning!) and those wanting to get rid of birds...

The Gilmanor swap is just 3 weeks 5 days away! It's by far the largest swap in the state, held twice a year. Spring is the first Saturday in May and the Fall swap is the 3rd Saturday in September (the 21st).

we've been told setup started at 7am, but spring we got there about 730 and it was already starting to get packed! think we need to get there earlier this fall.

if we can drag our butts out of bed earlier that is. (leaving Roanoke at o'dark thirty!)

Welcome to the group and to the world of chickens!!!! researching is great. there are alot of great coop ideas out there. how many chickens are you thinking you will want to get?

Yup! Gilmanor is cool - 200+ vendors, little bit of everything. I'll be there with surplus Basque pullets (egglayers not to standard), and barred egg mutt pullets.

...maybe even a juvenile trio of Euskal Oiloak? Anybody?
