Virginia

It's going to be an all day event for us(either Thurs or Fri), dropping the birds early, then hieing on up to Harper's Ferry with the kids. It would be fun if we could get together! If not, then I'm at Gilmanor that same Sat.

Anyone have pullets in the Fauquier County or Northern VA area? I am looking for my first chickens (would like 3 total to start with) and am interested in Wyandotte's, Cochin's, Buff Orpington's, Australorp's, Americauna's & Dominique's but am open to other breeds. I am hoping to find some girls by this weekend =) Thanks for any help!

if you can wait until the 21st, the largest swap in the state will be going on. AKA Gilmanor.

it's at Gilman Farm & Feed, chewning rd, Glen Allen. (don't remember exact address but you can google or look back on this thread.)

i'll be there with some Dorking hens (mature but on strike at the moment for eggs LOL), possibly a bantam Wyandotte hen, a few bantam cochins (mille fleur and buff Columbian split mille) and maybe an ee chick or 2.

might be a few more ee chicks too, if they all hatch a day early! had my days off and set them last Saturday so they're due to hatch on the 21st.

you can probably find one of everything there! or close to it. even cockatiels, parakeets and other pet birds. goats, pigs, they had some kind of foxes there last spring... saw a pony complete with saddle, harness and cart! oh and plants too. all sorts of landscaping varieties.

but mostly poultry.

Should the city of Virginia Beach consider amending the City Code to allow citizens living in certain residential zones to own and keep hens (no roosters) in their backyards?

here's another 'chicken math' kinda thing...

blue sfh girl
plus this...
Weeble (ee roo)
resulted in this...

and i'm definitely in love with her. LOL (at least I THINK it's a her)

LOL- Funny how it always seems that it is the ones who are a bit different or do not meet a standard that win our hearts. Here is a little wheaten ameraucana who is thoroughly pure bred from a reputable breeder that has not developed muffs or a beard who has won my heart. Whenever I am in the the area with her, she always follows me and flies up onto my arm or shoulder and rests there while I walk around chirping at me until I get her some treats. She may not be up to snuff for a standard but she will always have a home with me!
