Virginia

Hey Karen - Then to top it all off, when I went to work this morning I saw two beagles on the side of the road.

They had jumper cables on a rabbit trying to get him to run...

i'll warn you...  BOTH shipments I got from them last year were dead as well...  and that was in march and april!  part of theproblem IMO is that st Louis is well known for losing boxes of eggs and chicks all the time. adult birds seem to go thru quickly, they make too much noise and stink. LOL

I still have a credit with them, because I am hesitant about trying again.
oh man that is awful! I've never ordered through the mail and I don't think I ever will again unless it's eggs! :'( I'm so sorry that happened to you too and twice!! :'(

if they were immune then they never would have had it in the first place.
some breeders feel like it is best to breed birds that have gotten it and survived thinking that if the chicks get it then they might survive.
in my opinion i will only breed 2 year or older hens that have never shown signs of it and 1 to 5 year old cocks that have never shown signs of it. this will make my flock stronger and i have no need to add any new birds. i can run a closed flock now for years.
i may add 1 asil hen that may become available to me. she is 7/8 reynolds harris and 1/8 saab viper. so far i have no viper blood here. i think she is already over a year old so should be past that problem.

Hello.
New to this site. Was pointed to this thread for other Virginians. My name is nathan and was wondering if anyone here was around the Chesapeake area. Also hope everyone that was hit by snow made it through safely and stayed warm.
