I am from the other side of MD. The part that is dangling in the water...haha. My stomping grounds before college were here in Ocean City. My little family travels to the Baltimore area at least once a month.
We do not have any Norwegian or German places here to eat. But if you make friends with some, they will invite you over to enjoy a meal/feast. They would always ask me to bring something after they found out that I could cook. My dish was never one of their traditions, but from one of my many backgrounds. I have a bit of every continent. I am one of the only ones in my family that has dark skin, dark eyes, and curly hair though.
Oddly I prefer a mixed flock just like my family. My first chick as a kid was given to me by a cousin. She told me that it was "black" like me, and thought I would appreciate it. I hated the thought of being black/different, or associated with it then, but now I find my Black Australorps and Black Minorca's to be so beautiful. And I learned to love my reddish brown skin that is over a very light undertone. Funny how we learn from chickens.
