Virginia

Its all in personal preference - I like White chickens in green grass especially when they are dual purpose and process like this
I like almost any farm animal in green grass. It looks so natural. Is that a Delaware by chance? I will have those in the spring. I am less than 30min from Delaware. Everyone in the north end must have a blue hen...lol.

Yes this is a recreated Delaware line using Heritage Barred plymouth Rock / New Hampshire just like the originals.
They were recreated by Kathy Bonham -in MO - BYC kathyinmo
There is a lady in "lower slower" Delaware that has this same Delaware line as me - think BYC handle is Delsdels

I am not in Lynchburg. I think it is cool that you plan to breed Australorps. I have 3 black hens. We have 1 black roo. I have never seen a Lavender. That is freaking awesome! I am kinda new to this. We were considering dorkings, but have yet to seek them out or order. Either way best wishes.

Does anyone here know where to get organic layer feed? I have searched everywhere wih no luck /: a lot of places that are good don't have drop sites here. I'm in md but willing to go to va to get good organic feed

yes I sell hatching eggs and chicks, but not until March.

Right now, every morning time I go out to feed, water and release to run around there are eggs frozen. Every evening time I go out to feed, water and to lock them up there are eggs but they are frozen. Those eggs are fed back to them in a feed mixture all warm and cooked with milk and oatmeal in the mornings.

Hopefully I will be checking nearly every hour during their waking hours during halfway through Feb, and all of March, April, May, June, July, Aug, and Sept for eggs to hatch and sell or trade at TSC and in our neighborhood.

I will not be keeping back chicks because I already have too many and will be taking mated and laying pairs to TSC to sell come Spring. And along with selling hutches and pens.

What will you be selling or trading?

FLOYD is over an hour drive from our farm.

I have some blw rlsw slw cuckoo maran rir and an olive/easter egger who lays green/blue eggs. Got a cuckoo maran roo so there all mixed with him. Hoping to get a cuckoo maran/blw roo from one of y recent hathes so I can breed him with the blw and continue to breed the maran out. I have a tiny set up now but one day I wanna have the breeding pairs and a large walkin barn with stalls full of chickens on either side

Interesting,
You have a Master Plan?
I HAD one and I blew it!
I now have a new Master Plan.
I must stick to this one.
My hubby will be holding my feet to the fire.
It has more for chickens than I had originally planned.
Make sure you allow for the replanning.
It will happen.
Always allow for more chickens than you had already planned for.
Good luck and hope to see you at the TSC parkinglot Flock Swaps.
