I have Buff Orpingtons (hatchery stock) and they stopped laying altogether this winter, but now they are all laying (I thinkI want good egg layers that are docile and friendly (I have kids). I was thinking Buff Orphingtons and Black Americaunas. I know these do well in the winter but am concerned how they handle the hot, humid summer

). They are docile, good layers, kid friendly, and even my roosters dont flog or peck me. Orpingtons are a neat breed, if you ever want to there are lots of colors of Orpingtons too. Buff is just the most popular color. I'd say they are a very good breed to start with.
