Same thing here, parents needed help so we moved from TN back to FL. Had to sell hundreds of chickens, all my goats, rabbits, quail, and pigs. It was an awful time, not only did i miss my critters, my Dad died and then my Aunt.Dang..i was thinkin that too!my family already thinks I've lost my mind. I had to move to California 8yrs ago to take care if my mother in law. Was a long 7 yrs.( i was a good nurse) i had to give up everything..my hone..furnishings, etc. I used to tell everyone..1st thing I was gonna do when I
Got my own home...get chickens!! I'M up to 40..hatched most of them myself....i had so much fun raising chicks this summer. I now have cemanis, malaysian seramas, blue/gold partridge brahmas and RIRs/orpingtons(eggs).
What part of virginia? We are up in abingdon..not far from Tenn. Tiny little town..we love it here. Only thing i took w me to california was my 2 horses. I have one that is now 29..had him for 25yrs.no such thing as land/pasture in CA unless ur a millionaire! What we paid in board was equivalent to a mortgage payment. I have a few cemanis I'm looking to rehome. I also just hatched 10 blue gold partridge brahmas and I will be selling off a bunch of those. I have seramas, bramahs, cemanis and RIR layers. I hatched most of my chicks this year after a bad expirence shipping chicks. I won't do that again..poor things..i had a bunch come in dead/dying due to mishandling by airlines. I had intentions of raising some and shipping until that happened. Now i can't bring myself to ship any. Small towns have disadvantages!Same thing here, parents needed help so we moved from TN back to FL. Had to sell hundreds of chickens, all my goats, rabbits, quail, and pigs. Now all that is settled, we are in VA and i have three Americaunas and 13 guineas, two rabbits. Plus i have chicks in shipment right now! Polish and Speckled Sussex. Check out my thread, Helpful hints for coop building and you will see my coop building process.
We are near Gretna, which is not too far from Altavista and Danville. Yes, small towns have disadvantages but i dislike city living. Enjoying building my coop! What part of virginia?
